'CANES GET CARTER FROM DUCKS

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Ryan Carter from the Anaheim Ducks for center Stefan Chaput and winger Matt Kennedy.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes have been in search of some help on their lower lines this season, and Carter should prove to be a solid fourth-line pivot for them. He has a fairly well-rounded game and may even still have some untapped scoring potential (but needs to stay healthy to show it).

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
Chaput is a solid player who has shown some progress at lower levels (but isn't doing much yet this season and may have taken a small step backwards). Kennedy also has solid point-getting skills, but like Chaput hasn't made much of a splash at the AHL level (where both forwards are likely to stay for a while).
