AVALANCHE LAND MIKKEL BOEDKER

The Colorado Avalanche acquired winger Mikkel Boedker from the Arizona Coyotes for winger Alex Tanguay, center Conner Bleackley and defenseman Kyle Wood.

What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
The Avs get a speedy, solid two-way winger in Boedker. He will replace Tanguay in the team's forward group and provide a more complete game than Tanguay. Boedker is a potential unrestricted free agent this summer, and he may only be in Denver for a short period of time. That said, he should help the Avs maintain a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

What does it give the Arizona Coyotes
Tanguay is a veteran who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, but for now he'll provide some offensive help to the Coyotes. Wood is a towering blueliner with a raw game, while Bleackley is a 2014 first rounder who has yet to sign his entry-level contract. If he isn't signed by June 1, the 'Yotes would get a compensatory draft pick in return.

Fantasy impact
Boedker's short-term fantasy value should get a boost now that he's with the Avalanche, especially if he replaces Tanguay on a scoring line next to Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog. Tanguay's value goes in the other direction now that he's a Coyote, while both Bleackley and Wood are off the fantasy radar for now. Both are down-the-road possibilities.
