ISLANDERS ADD SHANE PRINCE
The New York Islanders acquired forward Shane Prince and a seventh-round draft pick in 2016 from the Ottawa Senators for a third-round draft pick in 2016.
What does it give the New York Islanders
The Islanders were looking for a forward, but Prince is probably more of a long-range acquisition than a player who can make an impact down the stretch. Prince has a history of point production at lower levels, so the Isles hope he can eventually become a reliable scorer for them.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
The Senators gave up on the 23-year old, mainly because he wasn't seeing much ice time with the team under coach Dave Cameron. So, General Manager Bryan Murray did Prince a favor by moving him to his home state (he is a native of Rochester, New York) and received a third rounder.
Fantasy impact
Prince is an intriguing fantasy option for next season, but he is unlikely to make much of an impact in 2015-16. The Islanders have a few UFA's on their current roster, so Prince may get his shot next season.
