The Ottawa Senators acquired forward Michael Keranen from the Minnesota Wild for defenseman Conor Allen.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
Keranen was expected to play in the NHL but the 26-year-old Swede has been limited to just one game (so far). He adds some depth to the Sens' stable of forwards and essentially replaces the traded Shane Prince.

What does it give the Minnesota Wild
The Wild decided to give up on Keranen while acquiring a depth defenseman in Allen (a solid AHL performer). The 26-year-old Allen has seven NHL games to his credit, but was probably acquired merely for depth.

Fantasy impact
Keranen is a fantasy dark horse, but he is unlikely to play a big role with the Senators (barring a rash of injuries up front).
