This is a decent pickup for the Wild, as Jones is a dependable winger who can get hot when on a good streak. An unrestricted free agent this July 1, he is likely to be merely a rental for Minnesota.
What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames add another late-round draft pick in this transaction, plus the contract of Backstrom in order to balance out the salary cap situation for the Wild. This was another solid move by Calgary.
