WINGS NAB SADOWY FROM THE SHARKS

The Detroit Red Wings acquired winger Dylan Sadowy from the San Jose Sharks for a third-round draft pick in 2017.

What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
This is an interesting move by the Red Wings, who are already well stocked in their farm system. Sadowy produced back-to-back OHL seasons of 40-plus goals, and Detroit doesn't have a ton of natural goal-scoring ability in their system so the move makes sense. He's still some time away from reaching the NHL, though.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
Perhaps the Sharks are too busy competing for the Stanley Cup to sign their prospects? All kidding aside, it seemed inevitable for some time now that the Sharks and Sadowy would part ways (he had to be signed by June 1 or re-enter the draft). Therefore, San Jose did well to get back a third rounder for his rights.

Fantasy impact
Sadowy should be someone to stash in keeper leagues, as his goal-scoring prowess should clearly grab fantasy leaguers' attention. He's still a few years away from the NHL, but the potential is there.
