WALSER BACK TO C-BUS

The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Derrick Walser from the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Mark Flood.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Walser returns to the organization that gave him an 82-game NHL trial in three separate stints between 2001-02 and 2003-04. Under new head coach Ken Hitchcock, Walser may get another crack at the big league. The Jackets could use all the help they can get.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
Since Walser wasn't even playing a lot in the AHL, the Hurricanes won't miss him. Flood has more upside, so Carolina management did well to trade a journeyman AHLer for an AHLer with slight NHL potential. Advantage Carolina.
