KEVYN ADAMS DEALT TO PHOENIX

The Phoenix Coyotes acquired center Kevyn Adams from the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
A hardworking, tenacious checker, Adams is a younger version of Mike Ricci, who is currently contemplating his future in professional hockey. Adams will bring leadership, heart and defensive responsibility to a rebuilding Phoenix squad. Moreover, he brings with him a winner's desire, as well as the ability to play all three forward positions. With the emergence of Travis Roche, as well as the imminent return of Nick Boynton, the Coyotes could afford to give up Seidenberg.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
With defenseman Frantisek Kaberle still on the shelf, and fellow rearguards Brett Hedican and Tim Gleason having recently joined him there, Carolina needed a capable defenseman to eat up some minutes in the immediate future. The German rearguard will also add some depth in the long term--at 25, Seidenberg is still relatively young.
