FORREST TO SAN JOSE

The San Jose Sharks acquired defenseman J.D. Forrest from the Carolina Hurricanes for future considerations.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
This is merely a depth move for the Sharks, who have been hit with several injuries to their blueline brigade in recent weeks. Forrest is a journeyman; he'll likely remain at the AHL level for the foreseeable future.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The 'Canes had a little excess depth on defense down on the farm, so they accomodated the Sharks by sending Forrest to the Fins. The discussion between Carolina GM Jim Rutherford and San Jose GM Doug Wilson may have been about a bigger deal, so stay tuned.
