AVS WELCOME BACK YELLE
The Colorado Avalanche acquired forwards Stephane Yelle and Harrison Reed from the Carolina Hurricanes for center Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll and a sixth-round draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
Yelle, a former Stanley Cup champion with the Avs, should be a great addition to the youthful squad. He'll be a key face-off man and penalty-killer for them down the stretch. Reed is a prospect that should remain in the AHL for the time being.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
Lalonde-McNicoll is an offensive center that needs more development time, but could be a high-reward acquisition down the road. The sixth rounder is an added bonus in this trade, but Lalonde-McNicoll should eventually be the key from a Carolina perspective.
