CHIPCHURA TO ANAHEIM
The Anaheim Ducks acquired center Kyle Chipchura from the Montreal Canadiens for a fourth-round draft pick in 2011.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
In Chipchura, the Ducks land a possible fourth-line center. The 2004 first rounder (No. 18 overall) has not come close to reaching expectations, mainly because of skating concerns. He's a defensive center for an Anaheim team with greater concerns on the second line and for more stay-at-home presence along the blue-line.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens did well to get back a mid-round draft pick for Chipchura, who wound up being a first-round bust. The Canadiens always prefer speed over plodders, and Chipchura fits the latter description. Chipchura ultimately became redundant due to the strong play of recent AHL call-ups Tom Pyatt and Ryan White.
