The Anaheim Ducks acquired defenseman Mathieu Carle from the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Mark Mitera.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
Carle is more of a puck-moving defenseman who was stuck behind several similar players in the Montreal organization. He may get a shot at earning the No. 7 defenseman role in training camp, but is mainly a depth pickup looking for a new start.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
Like Carle, Mitera is looking for a fresh start after being buried in the Ducks depth chart. He's more of a stay-at-home type, so moving to the Habs organization could be good news for Mitera--since they need more size and hitting ability throughout the roster.
