PASCAL DUPUIS HEADS TO ATLANTA
The Atlanta Thrashers acquired forward Pascal Dupuis and a third-round draft pick in 2007 from the New York Rangers for forward Alex Bourret.
What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
Dupuis is a solid two-way winger who should be an effective player in Atlanta. He may even find himself on a scoring line with the Thrashers. His offense tends to run hot and cold, but his defense keeps him in the NHL. Obviously, Thrashers GM Don Waddell is throwing all his chips into the middle of the table with the hope of making the playoffs for the first time in team history. The third rounder in 2007 was a bonus.
What does it give the New York Rangers
In Bourret, the Rangers get a quality prospect with a lot of grit. This is the type of player that the Rangers want more of going forward. Dupuis was recently acquired from Minnesota for Adam Hall, so this was a good move by Rangers GM Glen Sather--who is clearly in sell mode today.
