LAMPMAN TO TAMPA BAY
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired defenseman Bryce Lampman from the New York Rangers for winger Mitch Fritz.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning continue to seek out cheap alternatives to round out their roster. Lampman should get a shot at winning a job as the No. 6 or 7 defenseman with the Bolts. He essentially replaces Doug Janik, who was not offered a contract.
What does it give the New York Rangers
The Rangers will likely keep the mammoth Fritz in the AHL this season, unless they need to make a statement because of teams taking liberties with their star players. Fritz is an intimidating enforcer, but doesn't have NHL ability.
