BOURRET HEADS TO PHOENIX

The Phoenix Coyotes acquired winger Alex Bourret from the New York Rangers for a third-round draft pick in 2008.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
The Coyotes like aggressive forwards that play in your face and get under opponents' skin, and they added another one in Bourret. He has had trouble with weight issues in the past, and hasn't quite developed into the offensive player many had projected. That said, he may get a lease on life in Phoenix, where the majority of the forwards in training camp in September will be young, hungry and inexperienced.

What does it give the New York Rangers
The Rangers decided to give up on Bourret, after acquiring him from Atlanta in the deal that sent Pascal Dupuis the other way in 2006-07. They got back a third rounder, which is the same value they had dealt to Atlanta along with Dupuis in order to acquire Bourret's services. Therefore, this is a move that helps the Rangers cut their losses and replenish the system.
