HURRICANES ADD SANGUINETTI

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti from the New York Rangers for a sixth-round draft pick in 2010 and a second-round draft pick in 2011.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
The 'Canes add a solid puck-moving defenseman with upside in Sanguinetti. Carolina likes to play an up-tempo style, so Sanguinetti should fit in nicely. He's a good pickup and he didn't cost much to acquire, which is a win-win situation.

What does it give the New York Rangers
The Rangers are trying to reshape their defense, since too many of their rearguards were similar in style. It started with the selection of Dylan McIlrath in Round 1 of the NHL draft, and now continues with the trading of Sanguinetti. The key to the deal will come next year (second rounder in '11).
