HNIDY NOW A PRED
The Nashville Predators acquired defenseman Shane Hnidy from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a third-round draft pick in 2004.
What does it give the Nashville Predators
Hnidy adds more presence and toughness to the Preds' defense corps. They've tried to replace Cale Hulse all year but have tried unsuccessfully with the likes of Wade Brookbank, Jamie Allison and Robert Schnabel. Hnidy will play a role as a No. 6 or 7 blueliner in Nashville.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
An excellent return for a buried defenseman on Ottawa's depth chart. While Nashville has improved immensely this season, the Sens should still get a quality prospect in return.
