The Phoenix Coyotes acquired forward Alexander Nikulin from the Ottawa Senators for defenseman Drew Fata.

The Coyotes are taking a chance that Nikulin wants to stay in North America now that he's been traded to Phoenix. However, it's a good gamble since it only cost them a depth defenseman in Fata. The 'Yotes made a similar move with Ottawa when they acquired Alexei Kaigorodov a few years ago.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
In Fata, the Sens add a little defensive depth. More importantly, they decided to rid themselves of a problem child in Nikulin, who gave the team a trade-me-or-I-will-go-back-to-Russia ultimatum recently.
