The Dallas Stars acquired defenseman Chris Therien from the Philadelphia Flyers for an eighth-round draft pick in 2004 and third-round draft pick in 2005.
What does it give the Dallas Stars
The Stars hope Therien has something left to offer the hockey club, since his play has steadily declined in recent years. He adds more size to the Dallas roster, and will probably supplant the even older Don Sweeney on the left side.
What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
After acquiring Vladimir Malakhov earlier, the Flyers felt comfortable enough with their blueline situation to finally dispense with Therien. They received more than full value for him, since the third-round pick in 2005 alone is great value for Therien.
