FEDORUK TO ANAHEIM

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim acquired winger Todd Fedoruk from the Philadelphia Flyers for a second-round draft pick in 2005.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
After not picking up the option on Garrett Burnett's contract, the Ducks were looking for an enforcer upgrade. In Fedoruk, they get just that--but at a hefty price. Fedoruk will line up on the fourth line on most nights, but he won't see a lot of action. However, he'll take on all comers and provide a modicum of safety for Anaheim's most skilled forwards.

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
Landing the No. 59 overall pick for a reserve enforcer is outstanding asset management by Flyers GM Bob Clarke. Fedoruk would not have supplanted Donald Brashear in Philadelphia, so Clarke should make far better use of the second-round selection. He's probably not done dealing, either, since Clarke would like to move up in Round 1 of the 2005 draft.
