SHARP TO CHICAGO

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired forwards Patrick Sharp and Eric Meloche from the Philadelphia Flyers for winger Matt Ellison and a third-round draft pick in 2006.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Sharp provides the 'Hawks with a little more scoring potential. He's a natural center who had little future with the deep Flyers. However, he can also line up on the wing. Either way, he should be a good fit on a scoring line in Chicago. Meloche is likely to remain in the AHL for the foreseeable future.

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
Ellison is more of a role player than Sharp, which suits the Flyers better at the moment. He too is versatile but a more natural winger than Sharp. He'll probably play on the fourth line and see time on the penalty kill. Adding a third-round pick in 2006 was a major coup for Philly GM Bob Clarke.
