SIM TO FLORIDA

The Florida Panthers acquired winger Jon Sim from the Philadelphia Flyers for a sixth-round draft pick in 2007.

What does it give the Florida Panthers
The Panthers have been hit hard with injuries up front this season, so adding Sim gives them a little relief on the wing. He'll always provide an agitating quality to any team, but Sim's hot-and-cold scoring style usually grows tiresome at the NHL level. Don't look for him to score a lot in South Florida.

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
The addition of Petr Nedved, coupled with the Flyers' growing good health up front, led to a roster move. Sim was deemed the odd man out, mainly due to his lack of consistency as a scorer. Essentially, the Flyers chose to keep veteran Brian Savage instead of Sim. Adding a late-round draft pick in next year's draft is merely a bonus.
