FORSBERG TO OPRYLAND

The Nashville Predators acquired center Peter Forsberg from the Philadelphia Flyers for winger Scottie Upshall, defenseman Ryan Parent, a first-round draft pick in 2007 and a third-round draft pick in 2007.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
By adding 'Foppa', the Predators have now become the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. Forsberg is expected to make a major impact in Nashville. He'll team with David Legwand and Jason Arnott to give the Preds unmatched production from the center position. Forsberg should also become a key element to what is expected to be a dominant power play. Nashville Gm David Poile is sending a clear message with this move: The Preds mean business this year.

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
Considering their rank in the overall standings, and Forsberg's health issues this season, the Flyers made out very well in this trade. Parent should instantly become a regular along their blueline next season, while Upshall should be given plenty of ice time between now and the end of 2006-07. Adding two high draft picks is merely the cherry on the sundae. This deal will become a steal for Philly if they are able to re-sign Forsberg--which is being rumored--this summer. If he stays with Nashville, it's a draw.
