PROSPAL A FLYER
The Philadelphia Flyers acquired winger Vaclav Prospal from the Tampa Bay Lightning for defenseman Alexandre Picard and a conditional draft pick in 2009.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
In Picard, the Bolts add a young puck-moving defenseman with upside. They'll also get either a high draft pick in the second or third round--depending on how far the Flyers go in the '08 postseason. This is the start of what could potentially be a massive rebuilding effort in Tampa Bay.
What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
Prospal helps the Flyers in the interim because of all of their injuries up front. He'll probably not re-sign with Philly in the off-season but could be an importany cog for the club down the stretch. The Czech veteran can play either center or left wing, and he has experience playing in Philly (1996-98). Look for Prospal to get a shot at playing alongside veteran center Daniel Briere.
