GREENTREE FOR RAMHOLT
The Calgary Flames acquired winger Kyle Greentree from the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman Tim Ramholt.
What does it give the Calgary Flames
In Greentree, the Flames add a player that fits their profile perfectly: A strapping Western Canadian winger who plays a north-south game. He saw his first NHL action last season and, at age 24, could get a shot in training camp since the club has moved out several left-wingers this off-season--namely Alex Tanguay, Kristian Huselius and Marcus Nilson.
What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers had two better left-wing prospects--James vanRiemsdyk and Patrick Maroon--in their plans, so they could afford to deal Greentree at this time. Ramholt is the fourth under-the-radar blueliner acquired by the Flyers this off-season, after Danny Syvret, Janne Niskala and Steve Eminger. They'll all compete for a roster spot, and also provide a lot of depth in the AHL, this season.
