KEMP TO MONTREAL

The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenseman T.J. Kemp from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2010.

What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
Kemp is going from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Hamilton of the AHL, and is not expected to be an NHL factor for the Habs, who are still searching for a power-play quarterback at the big-league level.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins are knee-deep in puck-moving defensemen, both on the big-league roster and in the system. Therefore, Kemp was deemed expendable. The conditional pick probably becomes null and void if Kemp doesn't re-sign with the Habs.
