CAPS ADD HANNAN FOR BLUELINE
The Washington Capitals acquired defenseman Scott Hannan from the Colorado Avalanche for forward Tomas Fleischmann.
What does it give the Washington Capitals
This is a solid move by Washington, adding a steady veteran blueliner who can log a ton of ice time in Hannan. He's also on an expiring contract, which further helps the Capitals' salary-cap situation going forward. He adds a lot of quality defensive depth. Fleischmann's ice time will now probably go to rookie C Marcus Johansson.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche added Matt Hunwick from Boston recently, paving the way for Hannan to be moved out for a forward. Fleischmann should provide some help up front for a club that's now missing Chris Stewart, T.J. Galiardi and Peter Mueller for the long run. Fleischmann struggled at the center position in Washington, but he's expected to play on the wing with the Avs.
