HILBERT TO CHICAGO
The Chicago Blackhawks acquired forward Andy Hilbert from the Boston Bruins for a fifth-round draft pick in 2006.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks were desperate to add offensive punch, especially on the wing--where both Tuomo Ruutu and Eric Daze are out of action with back woes. Enter Hilbert, who should be able to crack Chicago's lineup--something he failed to do repeatedly in Boston. Now, Hilbert has no more excuses.
What does it give the Boston Bruins
The Bruins had enough of Hilbert's antics and holdouts, so they decided to get the best possible return for his services. Hilbert made the cardinal sin within the Bruins organization: He challenged management both monetarily and in terms of playing time. Usually, the B's won't hesitate to deal away established players who use that as leverage, so it's not a surprise that Hilbert is gone.
