SIGALET TO COLUMBUS
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Jonathan Sigalet from the Boston Bruins for winger Matt Marquardt.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
Sigalet should move up the rankings more quickly in Columbus, since the Bruins had several players of similar value to Sigalet in the system. He's a solid puck-moving blueliner that could find his niche under coach Ken Hitchcock.
What does it give the Boston Bruins
The Blue Jackets needed to sign Marquardt before June 1, so instead of letting him go they decided to move his rights to the B's, who now face the same deadline. Marquardt adds more size and grit to the Bruins system, as Boston is clearly looking at a return to a bigger, badder existence.
