MORRIS BACK TO PHOENIX

The Phoenix Coyotes acquired defenseman Derek Morris from the Boston Bruins for a conditional draft pick in 2011.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Morris still owned a home in Phoenix, from his previous stint with the club, so it's easy to see why the Coyotes would have interest in bringing him back. He gives the team another solid veteran defenseman for a team with significant playoff aspirations, for a change. Clearly, the 'Yotes are in win-now mode, so perhaps this may not be the last move they make.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
The Bruins had high expectations going into 2009-10, but the season hasn't gone as projected. Morris was one of the players brought in this year, but he didn't play at his best in Beantown. The B's will definitely make more moves but, for now, will accept a modest draft pick down the road in exchange for one of their veteran blue-liners.
