McGRATTAN TO ANAHEIM

The Anaheim Ducks acquired winger Brian McGrattan and defenseman Sean Zimmerman from the Boston Bruins for winger David Laliberte and forward Stefan Chaput.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks love toughness, but McGrattan isn't likely to see time with Anaheim until the end of this season. He was probably acquired to help the AHL club in Syracuse. He's tough, but his NHL days are just about over. Zimmerman adds depth to the club's AHL squad, and nothing more.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
The Bruins didn't use McGrattan at the NHL level this season, so they gladly shipped him off to Anaheim for a a pair of AHL forwards. Team toughness isn't a problem in Beantown these days, so McGrattan was deemed more than expendable at this point. Laliberte has NHL experience and some upside, while Chaput is more of a depth forward at this point.
