DETROIT DEALS FOR WINGER PERLINI
The Detroit Red Wings acquired winger Brendan Perlini from the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Alec Regula.
What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
In Perlini, the Red Wings add a winger who can play like a bull in a china shop when on top of his game. He can line up on either wing and has some untapped scoring potential. He should get more opportunities with Detroit than he has had so far in his NHL career.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks decided to give up on the 23-year-old Perlini, who was not seeing much playing time so far in 2019-20 (only 1 GP). Regula is a 19-year-old defenseman with good size and steadiness to his game. Chicago must sign him by June 1, 2020.
Fantasy impact
Perlini has some potential for fantasy success but it may not happen quickly in Detroit. He is worth picking up in very deep keeper leagues only at this point. As for Regula, he is worth monitoring because the Blackhawks do not have a ton of top defense prospects but should not be picked up yet.
