VILLE HUSSO HEADS TO DETROIT

The Detroit Red Wings acquired goaltender Ville Husso from the St. Louis Blues for a third-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 73 overall).

What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings have Alex Nedeljkovic but needed someone to complement him in goal. Enter Husso, whose UFA rights were acquired by Detroit in this deal. If signed, he will form a solid tandem with Nedeljkovic and challenge the latter for playing time throughout the 2022-23 campaign.

What does it give the St. Louis Blues
This is excellent asset management by Blues GM Doug Armstrong, who was unlikely to re-sign Husso before he hit the UFA market next week. Landing a third-round pick for Husso's rights is a nice move by St. Louis, especially since the team did not have a second-round pick in this year's draft.

Fantasy impact
Husso's fantasy value will be tied to Nedeljkovic if he signs with Detroit. He will be in a similar situation to the one he left in St. Louis, so his value should remain steady. Draft Husso but not too highly.
