MANTHA MOVED TO VEGAS

The Vegas Golden Knights acquired winger Anthony Mantha from the Washington Capitals for a second-round draft pick in 2024 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2026.

What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights have to find a way to replace veteran winger Mark Stone, who is currently on injured reserve and a question mark to return for the start of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Mantha is likely a rental for Vegas, but he is enjoying an excellent campaign and could help the Knights down the stretch.

What does it give the Washington Capitals
For Washington, moving out one of their pending unrestricted free agents in exchange for two draft picks looks like a solid move a few days before the NHL trade deadline. While the Capitals are still in the hunt for a wild card berth in the Eastern Conference, expect them to make more moves this week.

Fantasy impact
Mantha is enjoying a very good season, which is not unusual for a pending UFA. That said, buyer beware on Mantha for the rest of 2023-24. Sometimes, it takes players a while to get accustomed to their new surroundings...especially when a player goes to the defending Stanley Cup champions.
