MOEN FOR HOLMQVIST

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim acquired winger Travis Moen from the Chicago Blackhawks for center Mikael Holmqvist.

What does it give the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim
The Ducks went into the weekend looking to get tougher--and they certainly achieved their goal. In addition to enforcer Todd Fedoruk (acquired from Philadelphia), Anaheim now boasts Moen. While not the heavyweight Fedoruk is, Moen can still drop 'em. He may wind up sharing the fourth-line left wing role in Anaheim with Fedoruk, since neither player is ideal as an every-game winger.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
If Holmqvist is committed to playing in the NHL, he could turn this deal into a steal for the Blackhawks. However, the Swedish center always seems to have one eye on Europe and one on the NHL. He should be able to crack the opening-night roster for Chicago if he attends training camp, but will he? Either way, this move is a pretty good gamble for new GM Dale Tallon.
