LIGHTNING LANDS CROMBEEN
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired winger B.J. Crombeen and a fifth-round draft pick in 2013 from the St. Louis Blues for a fourth-round draft pick in 2013 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2014.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
Crombeen should add plenty of grit and energy to the Bolts' fourth line. He was a very serviceable member of the Blues in 2011-12 but ultimately fell victim to the numbers game in St. Louis. The Lightning also added a fifth rounder to help curb the two fourth rounders sent the other way. This is a nice pickup for Tampa Bay.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues
The Blues need to make room for young wingers such as Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz and Evgeny Grachev, so somebody had to make way. Crombeen was sacrificed at this time (and there could be other wingers moved before the start of training camp). The Blues were able to land a couple of fourth-round picks here.
