BERGERON TO DUCKS

The Anaheim Ducks acquired defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron from the New York Islanders for a third-round draft pick in 2008.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
With Bergeron the Ducks land a talented offensive defenseman who can help run their power play. He is having a bit of a down season but Bergeron is a talented point-man who can help any team pile up points in a hurry. The recent slump of Scott Niedermayer might have something to do with this deal.

What does it give the New York Islanders
The draft pick is solid compensation for a player who wasn't quite living up to expectations for a struggling team. Moving Bergeron also frees up cap space.
